Sydney lights up – Australia's most iconic building, the Sydney Opera House, turns into an animated, curved and multi-faceted canvas that features Australian indigenous art, such as the work of artist Donny Woolagoodja (pictured), during the "Songlines" exhibition.

Lights festival brightens up Australia

Museum of Contemporary Art – "The Matter of Painting" by the Paris-based multidisciplinary arts team Danny Rose and Sydney artist Huseyin Sami transforms the facade of the Museum of Contemporary Art.

The installation, "The Matter of Painting, " combines visual art with music and sound design.

Harbor lights – Circular Quay lights up during opening night on May 27.

Sydney's Hidden Stories, Customs House – Customs House is another piece of iconic Sydney architecture lit up for the festival.

Lighting the sails – Artist Gabriella Possum Nungurrayi transforms the "sails" of Sydney Opera House as part of the "Songlines" exhibition featuring contemporary works by indigenous artists.

Royal Botanic Garden – Nature and technology entwine on this Moreton Bay fig tree at the exhibition "Synthesis" at the Royal Botanic Garden.
