Eastern Market DC

Eastern Market is one of my favorite places in DC. It’s a covered market with all the fresh fruit, meats, bakery items, and flowers you could want. It’s also located in an eclectic neighborhood has charming cafes, book shops, and plenty of locals.

Parking near Eastern Market is usually a challenge and we end up a few blocks away. I don’t really mind at all though because we get to stroll through the neighborhood with historic row houses. I love seeing the homes and the pretty trees and gardens.eastern-market-neighborhoodeastern-market eastern-market-2

Once at the market, it’s so fun to peruse all the new offerings. Often you can find unique things like homemade green chili and mexican cheese raviolis and if you’re  lucky, the best gingerbread! (Seriously, I know gingerbread sounds bizarre in the middle of summer, but I want to eat this cake year-round, not just at Xmas holidays).

After doing our shopping, we always end up at my favorite place for brunch, Montmartre. This french inspired bistro serves really good food.

I always resolve to order something new, but in the end, I just can’t resist my usual: the swiss cheese and spinach omelette with a side of fingerlings and black pepper aioli on the side.

This time, I did venture out and order a bloody Mary.montmartre-dc

A word about my outfit…

Here we are practically in the middle of September and it’s still 90 degrees out. Oh, when is the weather going to change into fall?

I have so many great fall items I’m eager to wear like new suede boots and a silk bomber jacket. But there’s no cool weather coming our way soon, at least not this week.

So, in the meantime I’m just trying to keep cool like so many other people around the country. This tank dress from Athleta is perfect for a comfortable casual weekend outfit.

How’s the weather where you are? Are you dying for fall already too?

  1. I like your stylish casual look! I’m not really looking forward to autumn as it will mean shorter and colder days. I’m very happy to see that we currently have an Indian summer over here. Also, your photos really make me want to visit DC one day. I did consider including in my recent North America trip but then routewise it would have been too complicated. But with each of your posts, the destination is moving up on my bucket list!

  2. I love your outfit, the pink bag adds a nice fun pop of color! This market sounds a looks amazing! We just recently moved to Connecticut, so I’ll have to see if there’s something like this around, aside from Whole Foods. I know, it’s been so hot! I’m glad that it’s not as humid as it has been most summer, though, I just can’t stand it! Thanks so much for sharing, beauty, and I hope you’re having a great start to your week so far!
