Stripes and Leather for Spring

Washington DC has burst alive with pink and yellow flowers everywhere right now!

Each year, I look forward to when the whole DC region suddenly bursts into bloom after winter. It feels like it’s literally overnight! Right now, the cherry blossoms are approaching their peak, daffodils are growing everywhere you look, and the yellow forsythia bushes  are out in full force. It’s such a magical time here and I’m so glad it came early this year!

I’m trying to get a few more wears out of these faux leather pants before it gets too warm, so I paired them for an afternoon outing with my favorite new loafers for spring. It’s still a bit chilly these days and this REI rain jacket is perfect for days that have temperature fluctuation extremes. I took this same jacket to Ireland last summer, and highly recommend it for travel. It’s super lightweight and easy to fold up into a suitcase. Finally, I broke down and bought a new pair of Ray Bans for spring. I love the retro vibe of these with the silver metal wayfarer frame.

Are you excited about Spring? Has your city come alive with color recently too?

  1. Oh this is exactly something I’d wear on the weekend!! Love how chic and casual you look in those stripes.

And I’m terribly jealous that you have flowering trees in bloom already! I think we still have another two weeks before they show up here in Chicago!

  2. I love your outfit, Mary, the jacket looks great paired with the leather pants! It’s crazy because this spring, I’m seeing a lot more Cherry Blossoms and those yellow bushes everywhere like never before! I’m not complaining because they are simply gorgeous and relax me and make me so happy just looking at them! Thank so much for stopping by and I hope you’re having a lovely day so far!
