Fitted Jacket and Flared Dress on a Snowy Day

Braving the cold at the Kennedy Center in this fitted jacket and flared dress.

After a long warm December, it’s finally properly winter here in DC! The snow  arrived over the weekend (24 inches in our neighborhood!) and yes, we’re STILL digging ourselves out!

These photos were taken at a show at the Kennedy Center right before snowfall. I adore winter white and this Tommy Hilfiger jacket basically goes with everything. I paired it with a knit wine colored fit and flare dress, tights, and tall brown suede boots from Nine West.

To be honest, I find dressing in the winter a little bit challenging. It’s easy to fall into a rut of wearing pants, sweater, and long puffer jacket everywhere. But I think a variation of this outfit (jacket, dress, boots) could probably become my work uniform for the next few months as it’s both comfortable and warm!

Jacket: Tommy Hilfiger, Dress: Nordstrom, Scarf: TJMaxx, Boots: Nine West, Purse: Ginza Kanematsu

  1. Such a fabulous pairing, Mary! I adore the dress, the color is lovely and very rich; it looks wonderful paired with the cream jacket!

I know, we got slammed pretty hard in New York, too! Much of the snow is starting to melt away, since it’s been so sunny! December was so warm and this month has been switching back and forth, somedays its freezing and others it feels warmer. Hopefully we don’t get hit that hard again, they’re predicting another storm in the next couple of weeks! Stay safe and warm and thanks so much for the inspiration!

  2. Your outfit is very classic. You have combined several classic pieces like the sweater, skirt, and boots to make a classic ensemble. The scarf adds a pop of the unexpected. I like to use scarves and belts and sometimes boots & shoes to add a pop of color to my outfits. That is what is on my blog today – my leopard print boots!
