Metallic Brocade Skirt and Gold Shoes

Bare legs in December? Oh yes, the weather on this day was warm enough to wear a metallic blush brocade skirt with gold bow pumps.

About two months back, I ordered these Betsey Johnson gold bow pumps from Macy’s for New Years Eve. When I opened the box, I had the strangest sense of deja vu, as if I’d owned something like these before.

I put the thought away and then a few weeks later when I was visiting home for my father’s Birthday, it became clear.

I opened a wooden storage chest looking for something and discovered my old Barbie collection from when I was about 8 years old. And there were the gold bow shoes in miniature on one of the Barbies.

Last weekend, we went to see Bright Star, a new musical heading to Broadway next month (On a side note, I loved it!) and I wore my gold shoes for the first time. I wanted to break them in to see if they would get me through New Years Eve.

I’m happy to report that after some initial pinching, I think I’ll be able to wear these the whole night without hobbling home at the end.

Come to think of it, my interest in fashion probably started with Barbie. What about for you? Tell me in the comments!
