DC Eats: Food Trucks

1

Hi lovely readers! Each Friday, I showcase a great dining experience in the DC area and alternate introducing higher and lower priced favorites. Last week, we got our Italian fix at the lovely neighborhood Red Hen. This week is all about budget food trucks. I tried all of these at a fun DC event called Truckeroo, but these trucks do make stops around town year-round.

  1. Takorean (pictured above)

As someone who adores both Mexican and Korean cuisines, Takorean makes perfect sense to me. These beauties shown above feature spicy chicken and beef bulgogi, kimchee (of course), crunchy cabbage and carrots, cilantro, and lime crema on a corn tortilla.

2. Halal Grill

This food truck serves up fresh Middle Eastern food of the best kind. Grilled chicken and meats, fresh vegetables, parsley, and red onions, warm lavash bread, and that pureed garlic spread that I’m obsessed with. I could eat that stuff with a spoon, it’s that good.

3. Cajunator

The shrimp po’boy at this food truck has crispy hot nuggets of breaded shrimp, spicy cocktail sauce, cool lettuce, and a splash of lemon on a perfectly light and airy french sub roll.

4. BBQ Bus

Coming from the deep South, I appreciate a smoky spicy BBQ. This pulled chicken sandwich is loaded with meat, doused with sauce, and generously topped with jalapenos.

5. Peruvian Brothers

This unique food truck offers up South American specialities like empanadas, quinoa salad, butifarra, and this shredded savory roasted beef served with parsley sauce on a wrap.

There are a few other food trucks in DC that are on my radar, including a cheesecake truck (oh, yes!) and a grilled cheese truck featured Cowgirl Creamery indulgent cheeses. Are you a fan of food trucks in your area? What are your favorites?

Well, I don’t live near DC, but if I did, I would love to try this delicious looking food. Thank you for your lovely comment on my blog, So What to Twenty!
